Catherine Fortin hails from the borderlands of El Paso, Texas. She studied Spanish at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of New Mexico and Winthrop University. Hispanic culture is her passion and she has travelled extensively and studied in Mexico and she studied flamenco dance in Seville, Spain.
Catherine taught Spanish to grades 5-8 for ten years at the Charlotte Country Day School, where she was also the department chair for all middle school foreign languages. Before landing in Charlotte in 1998, she taught in bilingual schools in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She now teaches private groups and individuals.
Catherine and her professional colleague Diane Farrug train teachers, give workshops nationally, write curriculum, consult to programs, and publish digital foreign language learning and teaching materials.
